I actually started making this dress in August to wear to a birthday party but of course, as usual, I ran out of time and ended up wearing something else. I had packed the pieces away for next year as the weather was starting to change and I’m actually excited about Fall fashion this year. THAT was before this heat wave hit. The temperature has been in the high 90’s low 100’s and it’s expected to last all week. I thought that was a great opportunity to finish up this dress. I love UFO’s (unfinished objects) because you can jump right in and start sewing and the project is almost instantly complete.
This fabric is dreamy. I bought a bunch of it a couple of years ago as a Trendy Knit from Fabric Mart. It’s a cotton lycra and it drapes beautifully, move well, breathes so it’s cool and it literally feels like you are walking around in your pajamas. I liked the fabric so much that after my initial order, I actually went back and ordered a print that I wasn’t super fond of just so I could actually make lounge wear.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this racer back detail. It adds little sex appeal to the dress but it’s also modest enough to still be bra friendly.
Pattern Description: Misses’ Knit Dresses with Neckline Variations
Pattern Sizing: This is a multi-sized pattern with sizes XXS-XXL all in one envelope.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy including how to attach the neck and armscye bands.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how easy it comes together, I love that the neck and armscye is finished with a band rather just folder over and stitched I like the modest racerback so that it is still bra friendly and I’m really digging the front split.
Fabric Used: A trendy knit from Fabric Mart it feels like cotton lycra
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn’t make any alterations or design changes.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Even though it’s October, I finished this dress because we’re having a bit of a heat spell this week but I will definitely be making many of these for Spring and Summer 15. I would definitely recommend this as one to try.
Conclusion: I love this dress, I wanted this pattern because I wanted a go to casual maxi that I could use as base for my warm weather wardrobe, this pattern definitely fits the bill.
