Have I mentioned lately how much I love that I can sew? No? Sewing really is everything! It allows me to be creative, it allows me to have a never ending wardrobe AND allows me to fill in what I perceive to be the missing pieces in my wardrobe at will. Such was the case with these Faux Leather trimmed joggers I found at Forever 21.
I knew I wanted a monochromatic look but didn’t have quite the right black shirt in my closet, so off I went to my fabric and pattern stashes (don’t even get me started on how much I love my stashes) and grabbed a nice black ponte knit and Simplicity 1062.
I love the high low style of this top and the casual relaxed fit and thought it would pair perfectly with my pants.
Pattern Description: Easy to wear tops featuring hi-lo hemline with or without contrast bands.
Pattern Sizing: XXS-XXL all in one envelope
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are super easy. This is from their learn to sew collection so the were very basic.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the high-low style of the shirt as well as how easy it came together.
Fabric Used: Ponte knit from Fabricmartfabrics.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: N/A
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might if I needed a quick top in this style.
Conclusion: Very easy, quick sew and works well as a wardrobe staple.
Hi! My birthday was this past weekend and I started off the celebration with lunch with the hubby. We’re still getting used to all this free time, now that our youngest has started school. I knew we were going to dinner the next day so I saved the dress I made for that (I’ll show you that later this week). But I still wanted to pull something cute and casual together for my date.
Both the sweater and leggings are from Forever 21. Now I know a lot of my plus size lovlies don’t usually go to Forever 21 because the store is mostly straight sizes. However, depending on where you go, they are bring more plus size merchandise in store and of course, there is always online. the leggings are old but I got the sweater a few weeks back with a couple of other pieces I hope to show you real soon.
Since it was my birthday, I got babe to take a picture with me (he hates pictures, always has)
He liked the one with his glasses on, but I love it when his glasses are off, he has the most adorable freckles EVER.
I have been many places and seen many things but even after all these years, my most favorite place to be is right next to him. I’ll see you soon!
There’s a whole lotta sexy going on.
OMG, OMG, OMG you guys! This skirt is EVERY. SINGLE. THING. I really didn’t want to take it off. The skirt is made from Mimi’s latest tutorial and it was sooooo worth the wait. This woman is a GENIOUS. The skirt is a mixed material pencil skirt that has overlapping panels in the back which end in a beautiful pointed “tail” and the front has a slightly curved hem. Somehow Mimi is able to take that level of detail and explain it so simply that a novice could not only make this skirt, but actually draft a custom pattern for the skirt. Just genious I tell you. This skirt is so easy to make that I actually drafted the pattern twice and made the skirt twice in the same day.
Pattern Description: Mixed material pencil skirt with curved front hem, cross-over back panels and shaped hem.
Pattern Sizing: Pattern is custom drafted
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Exactly!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Amazingly so.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the shaped hemlines and the way that the skirt curves around the body in the body. It is uber SEXY. There is nothing to dislike about. The skirt looks great and feels so good to wear and the possibilities for what you can do with this skirt are endless.
Fabric Used: I used a faux leather for the front and ponte knit for the back.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No alterations necessary as the pattern is custom drafted.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This is my new favorite skirt and I will most definitely be making this again and again.
Conclusion: Another hit from Mimi G. Please, please try this one, I promise you you will not regret it.
